A processed image should not lose the labels that helped you organize it. In darktable 5.6.1, released on August 27, the project says images created through AI denoise or upscale now retain color labels, ratings and manually added location data alongside the metadata already copied.

Sony users get a separate repair: exported TIFF and DNG files should retain embedded lens-correction tags, making that correction option available when the files are imported again. The update also lets interrupted AI model downloads resume and retries temporary network failures.

Before upgrading from the 5.4 series, back up the library and configuration. The release notes say existing edits survive the update, but the upgraded library and configuration cannot be used with 5.4. That matters if you need to return to the older version.
